Job Summary

    • The Psychosocial Counselor is responsible for providing Psychosocial training to the project staff and ASLC teachers, provide mental health and psychosocial support to students, teachers, and parents within the project. 
       

The Psychosocial Counselor ( Female are highly encouraged to apply for this position) will have responsibilities that include:

    • Provide Psychosocial training to staff, ASLC teachers and Partner NGOs. 
    • Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students experiencing emotional, behavioral, or psychological difficulties.
    • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and caregivers to support the social-emotional development of students.
    •  Design and implement psychosocial support activities and workshops to enhance coping skills, resilience, and emotional regulation.
    •  Advocate for the mental health needs of students and promote a supportive and inclusive school environment.
    •   Maintain confidential and accurate records of counseling sessions and interventions.
    •  Coordinate with other stakeholders, including NGOs and community partners, to enhance psychosocial support services.
    •  Stay updated on best practices and ethical standards in psychosocial counseling and trauma-informed care.
    •  Conduct open awareness-raising session to the students, Parents and teachers. 
    •   Organize awareness session on stress management and other related issues for the students, Parents and teachers.
    •  Ensure high quality of psychosocial services for the students, teachers and staff. 
    •  Establish a safeguarding culture across all level of the program by implementing the safeguarding policy. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment. 
    •  Responsible to ensure team members are appropriately trained, supported and have access to resources regarding issues that are identified and actioned in accordance with the safeguarding policy and procedure. 
    •   Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so

Job Requirment

    • At least a Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field and 3 to 4 years experience
    •   Fluency in Dari, Pashto, and English
    •   Good communication skills particularly in local language (Dari/Pashtu) 
    •   Speaking and writing ability in English
    •   Good knowledge in Child education system in Afghanistan.
    •   Computer knowledge and skill.
    •  Ensure reports and other reports from concerned supervisor with qualitative and quantitative information.
    •   Be able to do the field visit into targeted site at provincial level.
    •  Knowledge on materials development. 
    •   Coordination skill with DED, PED, other Govt. officials, and local elected bodies, NGO’s, project experts and concern community members. 
    •  Employee must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently or in a team environment.
    •  Organizational and time management skills are needed to ensure programs are completed by the scheduled time.
    •   Employee must be able adjust technical language and presentation skills for audiences of all levels. 
    •   Interpersonal skills needed to work with a variety of people throughout the organization.
