Job Summary

• The Mental Health and Psycho-Social worker will closely work with beneficiaries, families, and communities to provide psychological and social facilitation and consultation for beneficiaries of the project and to provide appropriate psychosocial sessions to identified persons or households in need, including children through family groups and individuals. he/she provides emotional support and guidance to parents who are facing difficulties in parenting their children.   

The IMC Jobs in Faryab, (MHPSS Counsellor) will have responsibilities that include:

• Provide mental health and psychosocial support as part of Mobile health teams. 
• Provide mental health case management services.
• Provide Basic and Scalable MHPSS interventions and counselling.
• Identify, establish, and strengthen referral pathways for clients to ensure they are linked to needed services.
• Provide individual and group psychosocial support sessions.  
• Help people to cope better and enhance their resilience in their everyday life.  
• Help beneficiaries to resume their normal lives and mental well-being.  
• Meet community-identified mental health needs through comprehensive Mental Health Case Management.   
• Provide trainings on referrals to MHPSS services in the supported centers. 
• Provide awareness sessions on services available and facilitate referrals.
• Prepare, and deliver trainings for the purposes of capacity-building on psychosocial support, including PFA and case management trainings, where appropriate.
• Liaise with general practitioners, psychiatrists, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals to support clients in need of MHPSS through the referral, diagnosis and treatment process. 
• Participate in capacity building trainings and implementing in the field/ community. 
• Conduct other MHPSS-related activities as requested.
• Policy Adherence:
• Adhere to the Code of Conduct, maintain humanitarian principles and respect international humanitarian law.
• Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse:
• Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.
• Compliance & Ethics:   
• Promotes and encourages a culture of compliance and ethics throughout the International Medical Corps. As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of International Medical Corps and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards.  Conducts work with the highest level of integrity.

Job Requirment

• Minimum bachelor’s degree required in a field related to the social sciences, psychology, social work, or counselling, Health/Medical, Midview’s/ Nurses, Education.   
• Experience:
• Essential:
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in related role, Mobile health teams, Primary health care and with any NGO.  
• Strong interpersonal, networking, and communication skills.  
• Women are strongly encouraged to apply to improve the effectiveness of our program in the communities where most of the beneficiaries will probably be women.  
•  Desirable:
• 1 year of experience working with an INGO.
• Competency:
• Fluency in local languages is required.
