HEWAD is a non-governmental, non-political and non-profitable charity organization established in 1994 to provide Women rights, Medical, Educational, Social and Humanitarian Assistance to needy people of Afghanistan.

Job Summary

    • Conducting consultations in out-patient and in-patient departments.
    • Conduct regular thorough examinations on newborns and young children to check and record their health and normal physical development.
    • Examine sick children to determine their condition and ask intuitive questions to gather information about symptoms
    • Reach an informed diagnosis based on scientific knowledge and individual medical history.
    • Prescribe medications and give detailed instructions for administration.
    • Prescribe and interpret appropriate lab tests to gain more information for possible infections or abnormalities
    • Prepare and administer vaccines according to the MoPH standard vaccination plan.
    • Examine and treat injuries and refer the little patients to physicians of other disciplines when necessary (e.g. surgeons, ophthalmologists, orthopedists etc.)
    • Advise parents on children’s diet, exercise and disease preventive measures.
    • Keep updated records of patients’ illnesses, surgeries or other medical episodes (allergic shocks, injuries etc.)
    • Keep abreast of advancements in pediatrics and best practices by attending seminars and conferences.

    • Conduct daily ward rounds for support to MDs, observation, and review of patients.
    • Having professionalism, medical ethics, and caring during communication with colleagues and patients.
    • Providing training to residents, medical officers, and junior doctors.
    • Conducting Continuous Medical Education (CMEs) programs.
    • Take care of equipment assigned to in the Hospital including Computers, desks, chairs, statoscopes and ensure their proper usage.
    • Respect all rules and regulations of the Hewad Organization.

The HEWAD Jobs in Kandahar, (Pediatrician) will have responsibilities that include:

    • Work on departmental capacity building program as well as bring self-development.
    • Regularly monitor patients' progress and provide documentation.
    • Attend to emergency cases when necessary and be on 24 hrs call in case of need.
    • Ensure complete daily documentation of patient case notes/files.
    • Ensure complete discharge, referral and feedback procedures for patients.
    • Counsel patients and relatives on health management.
    • Maintain regular contacts and coordination with heads of other departments to ensure harmonization of patients' management.
    • Review and develop appropriate policies and procedures for patients' health care to formulate best practice guidelines based on EPHS.
    • Liaise with other consultants on handling specialized cases in provision of patients' health care.
    • Prepare timely and accurate medical reports, audits and mortality reviews.
    • Ensure medical records activities are effectively implemented.
    • Ensure effective management of Medical wards and Medical OPD clinic.
    • Observe and comply with environmental health, occupational safety and Infection Prevention measures and regulations.
    • Observe any situation for preventing infections.
    • Perform a complete physical examination of patients as per their needs.
    • Advice, completion, and accurate interpretation of laboratory and radiology exams according to patient’s needs and relevant guidelines and forms.
    • Conduct regular patient visits as needed and instructed by Supervisors.  
    • Advise and manage the treatment of admitted patients as per diagnosis and patient’s needs.
    • Ensure that the Unit Care procedures are applied to patients.
    • Counseling, managing, and following up on critically ill patients according to patient health status.
    • Assist in data collection according to data collection methods and tools.
    • Participate actively in the training of new employees and trainees.
    • Follow up on specific standards, protocols, procedures, rules in regulations during daily work.
    • Provide preventive and primitive counseling in the Unit to the patients and clients
    • Participate actively in the infection prevention of the Unit and hospital.
    •  Perform other related tasks assigned by the supervisor.
    • Reporting to relevant Supervisor.
    • Any other duties assigned by Supervisors or HEWAD leadership.

Job Requirment

    • Children Specialist
    • Should Speak Pashto, Dari and English
    • Minimum 1 Year of Experience
